Dana White: Silva/Belfort could be most incredible fight ever, or a staring contest
Dana White: Silva/Belfort could be most incredible fight ever, or a staring contest

Q: Anderson is a pretty playful guy away from the cameras, but you don't see much of that on the dais at these press conferences. Do you wish that he might show a little bit more of himself?Read entire article...
Dana White: Listen, to be honest with you, when I've got to sit through these press conferences with "Yes" and "No" answers and stuff like that -- we've all come to learn that that's what's going to happen. You know you're never going to get crazy s--- out of him. He's not going to tell you what he's really thinking. That's never going to happen.
I don't give a s--- if he sits there and doesn't say a word for an entire press conference. As long as he shows up on Saturday night and fights, I'm fine with that. Listen, at the end of the day, we don't pay $50 to hear him speak. We pay to see him fight. As long as he shows up on Saturday and fights, that's all I care about.
Everybody's so excited about this fight. Not just the other fights that are on the card, but this main event fight, because we know what both of these fighters are capable of doing. We all know.
I'm going to be honest here -- I'm not going to be a promoter here, but let's be honest. This thing could be the most dynamic, incredible f------ fight we've ever seen -- or the worst staring competition in the history of mankind. All I care about is that both these guys come and let it go and fight the fight we know we could possibly see.
Q: Going to Vitor, his mind has always kind of been questioned, even people questioning his heart. There were people in Anderson's camp last year in Abu Dhabi that were saying they thought that he pulled out after the staredown, they thought he didn't have the balls to go forward in the fight. Do you in any way believe that? Do you think there was ever a time that Vitor didn't have the heart, and do you think that's somehow changed?
It's so hard to answer that question. Only Vitor knows that. ... I just think this fight for them, I just think it's so big in Brazil. Both of them are so popular there and so big. I don't think anybody wants to fly back to Brazil the loser for this fight.
Q: Anderson made really, really clear that he wants to prove something against Vitor, because he helped Vitor when Vitor was at a bad time his career, and now he feels betrayed.
I've said that too.
We both know what these guys are capable of, and what kind of fight this could be. But if things go wrong because of the way that both these guys are sometimes, it could be the worst staring competition in the history of the world.
Q: Did you stack the card specifically because you were afraid the main event might turn out to be a bad one?
No, no. I don't think like that. Listen, I'm just being honest. I'm just saying, God forbid that happen.
Q: What do you think could happen on the negative side?
That they stand there and neither guy gets off. Believe me... (shakes his head and makes a nervous noise). God forbid. That's not what I want to happen.

Nice, respectful Nick Diaz ready for 'Cyborg'
At the Strikeforce press conference, Nick Diaz spoke about Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, the man who will try to take away his Strikeforce welterweight championship belt on Saturday. Diaz, the man who perfected the finger-in-your-face staredown, spoke with respect.
"I feel good and I’m ready to fight. Cyborg has a unique style and I know that he will give it his all and be as crazy as ever. But that’s good because I’m crazy, too," Diaz said. I have great respect for Cyborg. He is strong and has skills and comes real hard. I feel he deserves a shot."
Cyborg returned the respect.
“Nick Diaz is a very gallant fighter but I will press the action whether we are standing or on the ground," Cyborg said.
Gallant! I can think of no better word to describe Diaz.
